Bitcoin & sovereignty events in 2025

Australia's bitcoin-only conference, a single-day event at the Roundhouse, UNSW Sydney. The 2025 edition drew the local community for talks, workshops, and networking, with a 5 percent discount for paying in bitcoin. Small and friendly rather than industrial in scale, it is the main annual gathering for Australian bitcoiners.

The longest-running bitcoin-only conference, organized by Hodl Hodl in Riga since 2017. A deliberately cypherpunk gathering of one to two thousand people focused on self-custody, privacy, and freedom tech, with no altcoin or hype content. It usually anchors a wider Riga Bitcoin Week that includes a bitcoin++ developer edition.

Balaji Srinivasan's annual one-day conference on network states, startup societies, and parallel institutions. Past editions ran in Amsterdam and Singapore, the latter alongside his Network School. Talks are dense and ideas-driven, attracting roughly a thousand founders and investors. No 2026 edition had been announced as of mid-2026.

Brazil's bitcoin-only conference, held each November in São Paulo with Portuguese-language programming covering self-custody, Lightning, mining, and local adoption. Community-run and far smaller than the global mega-conferences, it has become the natural annual gathering for Brazilian bitcoiners. The 2025 edition ran November 7-8; 2026 dates had not been announced.

A builder-focused conference series on real-world bitcoin adoption, born in San Salvador in 2021 after El Salvador's legal tender law. Editions now run in El Salvador and Africa, drawing a few hundred to around a thousand developers, merchants, and circular-economy organizers. Smaller and more practical than the big industry shows.
